TOP 10 MUST-HAVE PLUGINS FOR WORDPRESS

This is an awesome list of useful plugins for your wordpress blog.

I may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Hello!!

I decided to round up my top 10 must-have wordpress plugins that i’ve used on my website. I know that this list will continue to grow / change as time goes on. If you know me , you know that I love anything that will make my life and work easier. That’s exactly what all of these plug-ins do for me here on my website.

This will be a lengthy post – so lets get right to the good stuff:

1.  All In One Schema.org Rich Snippets

Description:

What is a Rich Snippet?

It is basically a short summary of your page in the search results of Google, Yahoo, Bing and sometimes in the News feed of Facebook in nice format with star ratings, author photo, image, etc. See Examples of Rich Snippets Here.

How do I use it?

I love this Plug-in because it  helps me create a really nice summary for all of my posts.  There are different types of Rich Snippets.  If you have read my 17 Tips to Increase Pinterest Traffic you know all about Rich Pins. This plug-in supports the following content types:* Review * Event * People * Product * Recipe * Software Application * Video * Articles) . I mostly use the Recipe and “article” schema.

2.  Amazon Associates Link Builder

Description:

The plugin enables you to search for products in the Amazon catalog, access real-time price and availability information, and easily create links in your posts to products on Amazon.com. You will be able to generate text links, create custom ad units, or take advantage of out-of-the-box widgets that we’ve designed and included with the plugin.

How do I use it?

This plug-in is pretty self-explanatory. If you are apart of Amazon Affiliates this is a wonderful plug-in to have! It makes it easy to link products in your posts.

Please see below for an example:

3.  Amr shortcode any widget

Description:

Insert a widget or multiple widgets or a entire widget area (sidebar) into a page using a shortcode.

Set up your widget first in a normal sidebar. Check it works. THEN Drag your chosen widgets to the sidebar called “widgets for shortcode”.

Add the do_widget shortcode to the page where you would like the widget to appear (or the do_widget_area)

How do I use it?

I love this widget because it allows me to manipulate my front page to display multiple photos that take you to the different categories of my blog.  Previously my front page just showed my most recent posts in chronological order.  I didn’t like this becuase it made my blog seem messy and unorganized.  I blog about so many different things food, sewing, and I even give blogging tips that I learn!  This widget allows you to place widgets in areas that you normally can not place them.

4.  Facebook Comments

Description:

Facebook comments can be annoying to set up. This plugin makes it simple to add the Facebook comments system to your WordPress site without any hassle.

How do I use it?

This plug-in makes it really easy to integrate Facebook Comments onto your blog posts. I like facebook comments because almost EVERYONE has a facebook account – so this makes it easier for people to comment on your posts.

5.  MailChimp for WordPress

Description:

MailChimp for WordPress helps you add more subscribers to your MailChimp lists using various methods. You can create good looking opt-in forms or integrate with any other form on your site, like your comment, contact or checkout form.

How do I use it?

I used Mailchimp to create my sites “Subscription Pop-up” that you have probably seen already (You did go ahead and subscribe right? ) . It only pops up when you have visited my site for the very first time.  This is a really cool feature and has gained me quite a few subscribers so far.  I also love that it allowed me to import emails from my Gmail contact list.

6.  Remove Widget Titles

Description:

The Remove Widget Titles plugin removes the title from any widget that has a title starting with the “!” character.

How do I use it?

This is pretty self-explanatory.  Most of the widgets have names/titles that will appear at the top of each widget.  This isn’t ideal in most cases.  I was able to use this widget to remove the Title for all of the widgets where I didn’t want the title to show (I.E. Search Widget, Facebook Fan Page Widget, Text Widget (where my advertisements go), Instagram Feed Widget etc. )

7.  Review Disclaimer Widget

Description:

Clearly disclose to your visitors that you will receive compensation for your review, or endorsement of a particular company, product, or service.

How do I use it?

I love this because this places a disclaimer at the beginning of all of my posts.

8.  WooCommerce

Description:

WooCommerce is a free eCommerce plugin that allows you to sell anything, beautifully. Built to integrate seamlessly with WordPress, WooCommerce is the world’s favorite eCommerce solution that gives both store owners and developers complete control.

How do I use it?

This is a really cool plug-in that allowed me to add a shop to my blog.  This feature is so helpful to me because I am able to add my designs and any other items that I would like to sell. Later on I plan to have digital documents available for download, as well as “members-only” items.  I will need to use a few other WooCommerce Plug-ins to do those things – I’m sure I will write a post about those once I try them out 🙂

9.  WP Recipe maker

Description:

WP Recipe Maker is the easy recipe plugin that everyone can use. An easy workflow allows you to add recipes to any post or page with automatic JSON-LD metadata for your recipes. This recipe metadata will improve your SEO and get you more visitors!

How do I use it?

If you plan to create any recipes on your site – This plug-in is defintiely a Must-Have! It makes creating recipes so easy. I use this along with my  “All in One Schema.Org Rich Snippets” Plug-in to optomize my recipe posts.

10.  YOAST SEO

Description:

This is an amazing search optimization tool.  Yoast SEO also helps you write better content. Yoast SEO forces you to choose a focus keyword when you’re writing your articles, and then makes sure you use that focus keyword everywhere.

How do I use it?

I only recently purchased YOAST SEO Premium – So most , if not all , of my opinion is based on the FREE VERSION! I love Yoast SEO because it truly does help you write better content. Yoast SEO checks your written post for Readability and SEO.  It has you choose a KEYWORD for the post you’re writing.  This plugin knows how often your keyword should be mentioned in your article (keyword density). It even alerts you when your keyword isn’t used in the first paragraph or when it’s NOT used in the meta description.  These are things that I had no idea were important.  It even tells you about your ALT descriptions for your photos. There are several more things that I could name – But isn’t what I’ve already named enough for you to go ahead and download the free version – and see the rest for yourself? I promise you – my writing / website as a whole changed downloading this ONE app!

I was going to provide screenshot examples – but I think that’d make the post way too long 🙂 If you have any questions feel free to drop a comment.

I hope this was helpful to you and good luck on your blog 🙂 Please make sure to pin it and share with others.

This is an awesome list of useful plugins for your wordpress blog.
