Hello!

This is another “blogging tips” post that I hope you find helpful! Any time I learn new information that I find helpful I try to share it with you guys. I really want to be a source for helpful information. This post will tell you How to Set up your Self Hosted WordPress Blog in less than 10 minutes!

Web Hosting

Why do I need a Self Hosted WordPress blog?

If you plan on monetizing your blog and want more control over it- You definitely need a self-hosted site.  One HUGE benefit to having a self-hosted wordpress blog – The Plugins!  Wordpress plugins really can make your blog more efficient and easier to use.  Check out my post TOP 10 Must Have Plugins for WordPress  which tells you about some of the wordpress plugins i use here on my website.  You are very limited when it comes to SEO and monetizing your blog when you are NOT self-hosted.  Another thing is – you don’t own your site when it’s hosted on www.wordpress.com – so if they decide to shut you down for whatever reason – THEY CAN DO SO! If you are self-hosted thats not an issue!  Self-hosted is just best in my opinion and the startup can be very affordable when you choose a host like SiteGround.

Now lets get to the nitty gritty.

It probably took me longer to type up this post than it will take for you to sign up for a Self-Hosted WordPress site!

  1. Get your hosting! SiteGround is a great RELIABLE host.  Any issues that I have had with my website – they have been REALLY helpful in assisting me via chat. I love great customer service. That alone many times will make me choose to work with one company over another. If you check out the reviews online Site Ground has pretty awesome reviews among those who are looking to get a self hosted wordpress blog.

 Special Offer:

Please use my affiliate link to sign up. It benefits the both of us.   You will be able to take advantage of their 60% off offer. This means you can get started for a little as $3.95 per month!! The regular price monthly is 9.95 per month. You will end up paying less than $50.00 for your hosting for the full year!! That’s an amazing savings! Once you have acquired your hosting you should do is obtain/register your domain name (if you haven’t already) and your Host.  If you already have your domain name – that’s great too!  Please make sure YOU also sign up for their affiliate program so that you can start making money too. Oh – you can also set up your XXXX@YourDomain.com email addresses via SiteGround as well. They give you an unlimited number of emails. Pretty Sweet!

Affiliate Link: Web Hosting

  1. Install your WordPress! Siteground offers FREE website migration!! This means you can transfer your current WordPress.Com site to your NEW Self-Hosted Site.   It’s very easy to do yourself – but SiteGround is amazing and will help you along with the process.  This is yet another reason to choose SiteGround as a host.
  2. Choose a theme. WordPress has tons of free themes that you can customize. You can also pay for a premium theme. I’m currently using a free theme and use a Page Builder to customize it.
  3. Log in – and get to blogging!!

Wasn’t that easy?

  1. I hear so many good things about WP.org. I don’t use this platform but may consider moving over to it at a later time. One other thing to think about before self-hosting is the maintenance /repair should your site ever get knocked offline or hacked. Those are things that I would have to handle myself. So I have to look at it from all angles before making the move.
