Super easy Resin Ashtray and Resin Coaster Tutorial

REsin ashtray Resin Coaster tutorial

Learn how to create a Resin Ashtray and Resin Coaster with Allyse Jolie ! Super easy resin coaster tutorial!

Creating a resin ashtray and resin coaster is really easy! This is actually a really good beginner project! I also have a Resin coaster tutorial that uses round molds. Check it out here.

Resin Ashtray and Resin Coaster Tutorial

I create my resin ashtray and resin coaster by mixing 8 ounces of resin. If you only want to make the ashtray mix about 6 ounces. If you want to make the coaster only – Mix about 2 ounces.
Please note that the amounts above are for the total resin after mixed. This means if you want 8 ounces total of resin – You need 4 ounces of Part A and 4 ounces of Part B.

Hope you enjoy this super easy DIY on creating an ashtray and coaster using resin!

I have created a blog post and video previously on how to mix your resin when I created my Glitter Dipped Tumbler Tutorial. Please make sure to check that video out if you’re unfamiliar with using resin! It’s not as scary as some may think 🙂 Resin art can be really fun!

I wanted to share 20 random facts about me. Hopefully you will be able to relate to me and enjoy all the posts I will be coming up with soon.

  1.  I can play the Piano.
  2. When I was in the 4th grade I went home with a stomach ache.  The teacher didn’t believe me because one of my “friends” said I was lying.  I didn’t come back for weeks – I had appendicitis and my appendix was about to burst – therefore I had to have it removed.  It’s funny because the teacher believed my “friend” and not me. Thankfully my mom DID believe me.
  3. My favorite meal of all time is Liver and Onions. Unfortunately I haven’t had this in over a year – I don’t eat beef anymore and chicken liver just isn’t the same 🙁
  4. I hate my nickname. I don’t know why I allowed anyone to call me that all those years.  I know there will be quite a few of you who will be petty enough to call me by it if you read this.
  5. I got that nickname because I LOVED milk.  Oddly enough milk tears my stomach up now.  Oh – yall thought by now I would tell you my nick name? Nah.
  6. I know this is weird – but when I sleep I have to bite down on something. Usually my cover or pillow and I have to have something in my hand.
  7. I have 2 sisters (1 living) and 1 brother. He’s ugly.  He’s not likely to read this so whatever. lol. I take any opportunity I can to shade him. Keeps him on his toes.
  8. I have a natural resting bitch face but I’m sweet as can be most of the time.
  9. I can’t dance. I honestly think it’s because my oldest sister and brother used to pick at me and discourage me when I would try. I remember I was doing the running man once and they said it looked like i was trying to fly.  Haters.
  10. I don’t have a favorite color.  There are so many colors that look fabulous on me. I can’t pick just one.
  11. Right now , Cardi B is my inspiration. Why? Because she comes off as so authentic.  So herself.  She came on the scene and didn’t change the way she speaks, or looks to appease anyone else. I remember when we first heard about her on Love and Hip Hop New York , everyone spoke about how she speaks, and of course about how she’s an Ex-Stripper.  None of those things matter when you have talent and have DRIVE.  I love how she took the platform that she was given (LAHHNY) and used it to her advantage.  Yea – She got a bag and fixed her teeth , but I’m sure that was something she probably wanted to do anyways. She has stated she is just a “regular degular shmegular girl “. That is exactly how she comes off to me – She’s not trying to be anyone but Cardi B. I love that.
  12. I have 2 tattoos.
  13. My all time favorite celebrity is Beyonce.  She’s also an inspiration to me. I love her worth ethic.
  14. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I ask someone something and they don’t know the answer so they try to come up with a bullsh*t answer. Just say you don’t know love. It’s ok. I don’t expect anyone to know everything – I only asked in case you did know.
  15. I used to want 4 kids. That was before I had a kid. My mom made parenting look so easy. I am happy with the 1 that I have. 1 more would be nice though.
  16. For a long time I did not want a wedding. I have always wanted to get married – but the fact that my dad couldn’t walk my down the aisle really bothered me.  I think I am over that though – I would like a nice small wedding with the ones that I love most.
  17. I sometimes have bad anxiety about dying at 29.  If you want to know why check out my post My sister died at 29. I’m 29….
  18. I’m an Aquarius.
  19. One of the most embarrassing moments that i’ve had was in the 7th grade.  I remember like it was yesterday.  Early one morning , I was outside hanging out with my friends before classes started.  I had on those chunky wedge heels that were popular back in the early 2000’s. I thought I was cute AF that day.  Anywho – It had been raining and for whatever reason I thoguht it would be a good idea to walk up the handicap ramp which was soaking wet.  Yall….I slipped and feel right on my back. It was RIGHT in front of the 8th grade hall – where all of the popular guys who LOVED to JOKE and TEASE people!! I mean they would tease ANY and EVERYONE – it didn’t matter how cute you were. They would come for you !!  I was so embarrassed – I stayed on the ground. Why? Because who can laugh at someone that’s actually hurt.  I wasn’t hurt – but I needed everyone else to think that I was – so that they would wait until I wasn’t around to laugh.  Well the janitor at the school Charlie put me on blast.  I remember him helping me up and saying “Aww – She’s ok. Ain’t nothing hurt but her feelings”. Chileeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee – he told the truth right then!!!! I got up immediately and gave him the side eye and got the hell up out of there!
  20. I have wanted to sew since I was a kid. My mom sews – but didn’t have the patience to teach me.  I took Home-Ec in highschool and FAILED my sewing project.  Who would’ve ever thought years later I would be able to teach myself and totally ROCK it!

Anywho – thats 20 random facts about me ! I hope you enjoyed them!

My sister died at 29. I’m 29 and this has been the toughest year of my life.

This is a very personal post that I have been working on for a little while.  I think I started writing this post March of 2017. I’ve been going back and forth on if I would actually publish it or not.

It’s so personal – and I’m not sure if anyone would want to read. Then again, this is like therapy for me. So whether anyone reads it or not is ok with me.  I must say that year 29 has been THE most trying year of my life.  It’s crazy the things that I have gone through this year.  My birthday is in January so 29 started right at the top of the year for me.

I want to write a series of blog posts about my dad and my sister.  Two people who I love so much. They are both no longer here. They both died within a year of each other.

My hearts.

This is the first of that series.  This post is about my sister. Her name is Shannette.  We called her Shon. I’m not even sure how she spelled it. Probably Shawn.

I’m 29. My sister Shannette , died at 29. I know it sounds so morbid, but I’ve always wondered if I would make it to 29.  Her death completely blindsided us.

July 25th, 2005 – My sister gave birth to my beautiful niece Taylor Jordan (I named her.)

July 26th, 2005 – My sister died.

Her husbands birthday is 7/27. I’m sure his birthday’s haven’t been the same since. 🙁

Life is so short and unpredictable.

My sister died at 29.  I’m now 29 and I realize how YOUNG she really was when she died.

29 was old to me back then.  I think I was like 18 when she died.

It was the week before I went to college at Valdosta State. Looking back, I really wish I had not gone. I didn’t give myself any time to mourn.  Keep in mind my dad had just died about 6 months before that.

Hindsight is 20/20 they say.

Truly – this period of time allowed me to know who my real friends were. I really appreciate people like my friend Tanisha for being there for me. My friend Jessica and her mom, Ms. Debra for taking me to school because my mom couldn’t. She was helping my Brother-in-law care for my niece Taylor. That was such a tough time for me.  It’s crazy to think that this year has been harder for me(specifically emotionally) with all that I dealt with at that time.  I almost feel like i’m having a delayed reaction to those deaths – I never really mourned. I wonder is that possible…

My sister wasn’t old – she was really really young.  I’m 29 now – and I look at my life and I feel like I haven’t even begun to accomplish even a 1/4 of the goals that I want to accomplish in my life.  I know that we all have to go one day – but man – 29 is so young.

I think she seemed “old” to me – because she was always on my ass. Never let me be wild and just have fun. She was always trying to throw salt in my game when it came to the parentals.

How dare she put them “in the know”.

It’s so funny though – because now I understand!

My niece visited me about a week or so ago. She’s 17.  Yall – I had to be on my best behavior lol.  I guess as an “adult” you want to be a good example to the younger generation.

My sister died at 29.  I know I keep repeating that – but it’s really significant.   I always thought that she was old. Of course not old as in , elderly, but like – old as in – She was a REAL live adult.  She (to me) had probably accomplished all of her goals and lived life.

I bet my niece thinks i’m out here adulting successfully.

Nah. I’m not. lol.

I still have so many goals that I want to accomplish, so many things that I want to do.

 29 is NOT OLD.

My sister died at 29.  29 is so young.  My sister and I are 11 years apart.  I don’t think I realized just how young, until I turned 29.  I’m still confused, still trying to figure out life.

Still struggling to adult.

It makes me feel like I never really knew her.  Not really.  I feel as though her friends knew her better than I did.

I feel this way – because I see how I behave around my nieces / nephews.  Of course I don’t show them my ratchet side.

Me around my nieces and nephews lol.

The real me.

I wish I could have known my sisters ratchet side. I’m sure she had one. Even if it was just a little bit.

I wish I had taken more pictures with her.   I don’t think that I have any when we were older.  That makes me sad.

Really. It does. But you have to laugh to keep from crying. 🙂

29 is soooo young yall.

Missing her is so tough.

I have 29 questions that I wish I knew…I will save that for tomorrow’s blog post.

How I went from 120lbs to 140lbs in 3 months!

Finally! The blog post many have been waiting for! My weight gain post!!!

People are always talking about LOSING weight, very rarely do you see people that want to GAIN weight. And whenever you do it’s always met with “OMG, You’re crazy, I wish I was your size” , “Do you know how many people would LOVE to be your size?”… Yea, yea, whatever. No one wants to hear that!!  My response is always simply “Thank you, but I have to be happy with “me”. This is not to say that I’m unhappy with my body, but I was not happy with my weight!!

I’ve tried tons of things, from drinking ensure with all of my meals (and late at night), to taking medicine like apetamine (which works but causes you to be VERY drowsy!!).

What I have found works for ME, was consistently EATING and eating the right foods!!!

I tried my best to eat HEALTHY and stay away from a lot of SUGAR during the period I was weight gaining. Sugar was a no no for me because it has the tendency to go to your belly! I did not want to gain weight at the expense of my very flat stomach!

I decided to change my eating habits, not only for the benefits of gaining weight (I’m still eating ALL healthy!!), but I’m also doing this for my hair and skin as well!! We are what we eat!!

The state of our hair and skin, is very much dependent on what we eat!! Our hair needs the proper vitamins and nutrients so that it can grow to its fullest potential. Think about flowers and plants, of course they will grow as long as they get water, but they won’t grow to their full potential or be as beautiful if any of their nutrients and vitamins are lacking!!!

I’m incorporating, the proper nutrients that i need in my diet and INCREASING MY CALORIE INTAKE!!! Things like Avocado’s are HIGH in unsaturated fat(NOT THE BAD FAT), and STILL good for you (skin and hair!) !!! My previous weight loss (it was gradual over the past two years), was only due to poor eating habits, so I think that eating properly will put me back at my ideal weight.

I set up a goal for myself of what I wanted my diet to consist of! I was pretty good about getting MOST of the things below into my body daily.

This is what my diet consists of:
”  Consuming 20 to 50 percent of your calories in proteins each day. This food group includes chicken breast, turkey breast, lean beef, eggs, fish and milk.

Eating 30 to 60 percent of your calories in carbohydrates, which include, potatoes, brown rice, oats, pasta, whole grains, black beans, sweet corn and broccoli.

Making sure to eat 20 to 30 percent of your calories” in unsaturated fats and consume avocados, nuts and oils which provide your body with essential fatty acids.

This is what my daily food intake looked like on average:

DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER!! I rarely drank Soda’s and when I didn’t drink water it was 100% fruit juice!!

Breakfast (I ate breakfast RELIGIOUSLY!!!) I feel like this helped me out soooo much because I rarely ate breakfast prior to my weight gain journey!

For breakfast I would have the following:

Breakfast: 2-3 boiled eggs and 1-2 pieces of toast (this was what I had more often, because this is QUICK and EASY to make)

Breakfast: Oatmeal and Toast

Breakfast: Grits/Eggs/Bacon/Toast

Snacks: NUTS NUTS NUTS!! I ate lots of nuts!! I love almonds and cashews!

Snacks: Salami/Colby Jack Cheese/ Crackers and Fresh Fruit (I think this helped a lottttttt) It was really really yummy and I swear I ate it all day lol.

Snacks: Fresh Fruit alone (Usually an apple or cut up mixed fruit)

Snacks: Fruit Smoothies!! Love my ninja!

Dinner and lunch are just about one in the same to me!!

Lunch: Usually lunch during my work week was whatever I had for dinner the night before. But on the weekends I had the following:

Lunch: Chicken Breast (Seasoned with Mrs. Dash and Coarse Kosher or Sea Salt) with Broccili

Lunch: Baby Lima Beans or Field Peas and Rice (Simple but soooo good, and high in calories because I can eat a lot lol).

Dinner: Salmon, Mushrooms(I really love them lol.) , mixed vegetables (I use frozen a lot. It just saves time for me. )

Chicken was a huge staple for me when it comes to dinner!!

Whole Chicken and Roasted Vegetables was something that I ate often throughout the week. It could easily last 2-3 days!  The roasting vegetables I use would vary from Carrots, Potatoes, and other root vegetables, but you can use what every you like.

Dinner: Baby Lima Beans or Field Peas and Rice (This was easy to make, very flavorful and could last a couple of days)

Dinner: Pasta ! Pasta is really good for gaining weight! One of my favorite recipes is Shrimp and Zucchini with Bowties in light Tomato Sauce by skinny taste !

The biggest thing that I learned about gaining weight successfully is making sure that you’re eating between meals. And making sure that what you’re eating whether it’s a snack or a full blown meal, is NUTRITIOUS!

When I was “counting” calories before, but simply looking for foods that had HIGH numbers in calories, I didn’t really get very far because many of those foods were nothing but empty calories with absolutely no nutritional value.

If you’re intested I can compile a list of the many recipes that I used throughout this time! A few of my favorite websites are (HEALTHY , but VERY YUMMY recipes!) , (Just yummy!), (Healthy and Yummy!)  and The Kitchenista Diaries.

I know this post is long, but I hope it helps someone. Please ask me any questions that you may have.

More ANKARA! #InProgress

I have been working a lot with Ankara wax fabric lately! It was one of my first projects with woven fabrics besides a few purses that I made.
I really love how beautiful the prints are! And they are very affordable. Check out something I was working on last night.

The Ankara flounces will be added on the sides.  I can’t wait to finish this dress!
