Hello!

I wanted to make a follow up  to my post “5 Awesome Resources for Learning To Sew”   that I shared a few weeks ago.

Today I’m going to bring to you my TOP 5 Sewing Machine’s for Beginners !

It may seem as if I’m a bit biased because the list consists of ALL Brother Brand Machines ! It’s because they are AMAZING , USER-FRIENDLY and AFFORDABLE!

Let me put out the disclaimer that I have only personally had experience with Brother and Singer sewing machines.  I must say that I love Brother Machines over Singers – HANDS DOWN – Its not a contest!!

Brothers tend to be more user friendly in my opinion.  I have friends that own both – and they also prefer Brother sewing machines!!  I have one friend who has had to curse her Singer out on several occasions. (*cough* Stephanie *cough* )

Yup….Like this….
So do yourself a favor – STICK with brother when it comes to home sewing machine models.

This is just my opinion though 🙂 I’m sure there are some people that like Singers. I have used them personally and taught with them

– And Brother Sewing Machine’s are still Bae.

I love Brother Sewing Machines !

There are other brands such as Bernina, Babylock , Husqvarna ,  and Juki that I would LOVE to try as well.  I personally think that they are more for the advanced seamstress or someone who isn’t just doing it as a hobby. They are very powerful machines.  They are of course far more expensive than the home model Brother or Singers. Brothers and Singers can be found priced at anywhere from 75.00 to 300.00+.  The other brands that I mentioned earlier , Bernina and Juki etc , can start at 600.00 !! I have my eyes on a Juki Straight stitch as well as a Babylock serger – We will talk about sergers another day !

This is the list of my top 5. They’re not in any particular order because it truly depends on your needs and your budget.  You have to think about what type of projects you want to do ! I have a basic machine with only 17 stitches (Brother JX215) as well as a computerized sewing machine (mine is similar to Brother XR9500).  I honestly love them both equally – and I don’t use any one over the other. Each sewing machine serves a different purpose for me.

Now on to the list!

  1. The sewing machine you enlisted are really great. they have such comfortable features favoring the beginners. But for a beginner its should be on the affordable and a cheaper price. don’t you think?

    1. Yes! I do think they should be affordable. You definitely shouldn’t go out and buy a Bernina on your first shot lol. But i guess what’s “affordable” is subjective lol. The ones i suggested range from 75.00 to 300.00. I’ve never seen a NEW sewing machine cost less than about $70.00. Of course thrift stores offer bargains on used ones. We have many options for purchasing machines ! I think that’s great!
